| Hell and back |
[Apr. 14th, 2008|07:56 pm] |
I had an awesome day at the Melburn Roobaix. Great weather for a slighlty punishing ride around Melbourne. Everthing from cobble laneways to gravel and dirt and back to the road.
I got a puncture at the first checkpoint, I stacked once about half way though and I almost took out 3 generations of the same family in one hit on the home straight. And despite all the hills and cobled lanes riding on a track bike it was the most fun i've had riding ever. And the beer at the pub at the end of it all never tasted so good.
I'm definately going back next year but this time I'll know what to expect.

| Roller Derby |
[Mar. 29th, 2008|10:53 am] |
I headed out to Brunswick last night for some beers at the Royal for Roller Derby 3 last night and it was quite fun. It's basically guys on their bikes on rollers trying to set the fastets time for 400m sprints. Except it's held in a pub and there is beer involved - fantastic idea.
So i hooked up with a few mates and smashed down way too many pints of becks before heading back to my place.
I had a deadline to be in Port before 12 as that's when the IGA stops selling beer (eveyone should support their local independant grocers for that reason alone). I was on my bike and in there with 15mins to spare, picked up a case of Coopers and headed home with a mate to carry on the beerlicious fun when the unthinkable happened.
Case of beer on the handle bars and I fell.
Noooo...Stellaaaaah. My mate turned around in horror as he seen me plumeting to the ashpahlt. I decided on the way down as any man would to put beer before his body and tried to cushion the landing as much as i could.
Two bloody knees, ripped jeans one flat tyre and a couple of cut fingers later there was two beers down.
I managed to save the majority and some of my pride from what could have been the most epic failure of my life.
So this morning I'm off to the bike shop to get my rear wheel repaired and finish off that case of Coopers.

| The Falcon |
[Mar. 27th, 2008|08:07 pm] |
Yep that little fuker on the ANZ TVCs actually works.
I got a call yesterday arvo from the bank to let me know someone had tried to use my Visa debit card and that they would deactivate it and send me out a new one in the next 3-5 days.
I was joking with my mate about it when he calls me up a couple of hours later to let me know he just got a call too ( Falcon must be working over time).
Between us we both come to the conclusion that we had both used our cards at the same 7/11, on the same day. Some shifty little prick is out around Port Melbourne scamming peoples CC details from ATMs.
Luckily for us we have The Falcon.

Yep, I got another week to work on my TVC.
Just as well because I got a call on the way home from work from a Sydney friend fwho just happened to be in Melbourne for work and wanted to meet up.
Back to my script, so far it includes Bryan Berg, a professional card stacker.

| | housemix2000-an mp3crackhouse production | ] | I'm on fire at work, all my concepts are getting through and most of the stuff I'd happly put in my portfolio. Today I found out the stuff I came up with for a pitch is the only stuff that's made it through to the focus group...I've got the skillz to pay da bills.
This week has been kinda hellish as i've been acting Creative Director since he's on a seven day shoot in Brisbane, lucky bastard. But I got through with flying colours and am looking forward to next week. My job rocks.
Other than that tomorrow is gonna be 41ºC (that's about 110ºF for you backwards folk) so I deciding on getting really trashed tonight and sleeping through the heat or getting trashed tonight and enjoying some sun with a nice hangover to go.
Annnnnnnd...Jeb and i are getting married?? Sunday. How fuking queer is that. We're doing it in jeans and a t-shirt, flashy couple aren't we. For the honey moon were gonna get spastic on beer and bourbon to celebrate our hollow vows. |

| | Pearl River (Vocal Mix)-Trance Nation (Disc 1) | ] | I'm working on a new campaign at work on how to get the people of Melbourne to save water and to remind them of the water restrictions going on. I need to come up with five different concepts for newspaper ads. Sounds like fun hey, well to me it is.
Friday night was a bit of a big one for me. I went out with a few mates for some beers at the Orange Bar and then after that headed into the city for some more beers and a game of pool at the backpakcers. I managed to stop a big fight from breaking out between my two mates and the locals there – all because of straight guys and their egos. I ended up leaving at 6am when I realised I couldn't see straight when playing pool and was missing every shot. I headed off to Maccas for some breakfast then headed home to sleep.
( Looky lool... ) my desk has been set-up
I have some freelance work to do this weekend as well since I had nothing special planned for the long weekend so I figured I'd make a bit of extra cash.
Also Jeb got made permanent at his new job which rocks, it means we can now do a budget and start to save again. So looks like we can have our loans and computers paid off within three months. Then I'm going to get a nice powerbook and sell my eMac and buy a big ass monitor to go with it. |

| | Got To Be Free [Zoo Vox]-Ministry Of Sound - Sessions Nine Mixed By Erick Morillo (Disc 2) | ] | My second week at work went well, I'm starting to remember peoples names and such. Went out on a bit of a drinkfest Thursday night with one of the girls from work and we started joking about how cool it would be to come up with a campaign for AA. Somehow I don't think we'd ever get that account, but we would like to get a beers account, like Becks or Heinekin because that would mean free beer for us.
I went out to the GB at Richmond last night for a few beers with some mates and I felt a bit worse for wear today spending most of it in bed. I didn't think I had that much to drink but my body is telling me a different story. Still I had a good night.
I basically decided that I'm moving my computer up into my bedroom once I get a nice long cable which should hopefully be Tuesday.
( Orifice )
At the moment my computer is with everyone elses downstairs so I get distracted a fair bit when thinking about work stuff – plus I think a lot better when no one is around. So that's my mission for next week is to get that sorted. I might even start to draw again since I'll be right next to my drawing board. |

| | Saturday-Clublife (Disc 1) | ] | I got attacked by mossies last night, so bad I had to go down stairs and sleep on the lounge. I think I got about 3–4 hours sleep and was ithcy as fuk.
So today started out with me feeling quite tired and a little grumpy. But once I got into the swing of things at work all was well. I'm working on a campaign for a certain university in Melbourne and it's quite a challenge coming up with the concepts and copy for 12 different billboards. The cool thing is once the concepts are approved it's a few days out of the office art directing photo shoots.
A ran out of gas at training tonight, I think it's something to do with my diet, that is I dropped it from six meals a day down to three and I'm starting to notice the energy levels drop. So i'm going back to six meals from tomorrow onwards, I need the carbs baby.
I just can't wait till Saturday! I finally got the song from eBay, well Jeb found it for me and it arrived from the Uk today. I't called Saturday by East 57th St. Feat. Donna...something, I forgot her last name. It brings back such good memories from back in 1997, but none that I can mention on here. |

| | Neocon-Splinter | ] | My first week in my new job went well, on Friday after work we headed down to the pub at five, and played pool and dunk untill close so I was pretty cheerful by the time I left. When I got home I pretty much went straight to bed.
Yesterday was spent at the railway in South Melbourne with Jeb, Rick and Marc sitting outside in the beer garden drinking beer untill we noticed the estrogen count out numbered the testosterone by about five to one. There were girls everywhere partly because of a hens night. So we headed inside – mainly because by now it was getting cold and we only had t-shirts on.
After a few more hours we decided to catch a tram home before we became legless and getting home would of then become a mission. Once at home we watched a few episodes of Malcom in the Middle before crashing out.
I woke up this morning to a clanging noise coming from the floor, when I looked over a bird flew straight past my head ond out the window. The bird had come in and was pecking away at a left over sandwhich that was on a plate beside the bed. It gave me enough of a fright to wake me up for the day.
The rest of today will be spent cleaning up a bit, doing some clothes washing and probably head down to the gym a little later on for some exer-ma-cise. |

My iPod died on me on the way to work which was a bit of a downer, I gotta remeber to recharge it – so I'm takin the firewire cord to work so it can charge there whilst I listen to it.
I've eaten fuk all over the past two day which explains why I ran outta gas at boxing tonight, I gotta get more carbs into me or my training is gonna die in the arse.
I'm also getting used to catching a tram everyday and I'm kinda liking it especially since it takes me 10mins to get to work and the trams stops at the front door literally. |

| | House Of Glass - Playin' With My Mind-Clubber's Guide To Ninety Nine | ] | I'm back in training at the moment which rocks, I was supposed to go to Ju-jitsu today but didn't get out of bed till twelve which is when class started. I had a bit of a late night reading a book of all things.
I went out today and bought myself a new diary and stuff to get ready for my new job tomorrow, it feels like I'm going back to school after the summer break except I'm looking forward to it. I'll probably have on of those sleepless nights. I even went and got my weekly tram ticket today so I don't have to line up tomorrow morning.
I think I'm going to spend the rest of the day reading and relaxing, and do some washing – can't find a clean pair of socks anywhere. Cook up some lunch and then later on hit the gym for some boxing.
We finally got some rain today, after going through 30º+ the last few weeks, it makes a nice change but it's still quite muggy. |

| | Sao Paolo - Be Yourself Be Free-Australian Tour 98 (Disc 1) | ] | Well the drinkfest is finally over, now it's six weeks with no alcohol allowed so I can get back into my routine again after a dismal last three weeks over very little training and lotsa drinkin.
NYE was cool, Jeb and I spent it with C. and her boyfriend who were up from Sydney. We had a bbq and a few beers at home before heading out to the backpackers, getting past the bouncers and thier doorman attitude – I must of been standing there a good ten seconds before they would even acknowledge me and then it's like the biggest deal for them to unclip the rope to let us through. Anyway once in there we managed to get seats at the window and watch the people go by. Seen some funny sights and listend to 80's pop and rock music through the juke box and drunk pints till well into the new year.
It was a good perve too, lotsa cute straight guys around flashin themselves to the girls cause they were well pissed.
When we got home we decided to introduce C. to DDR. that was a laugh, we have two mats so you can have a dance off with each other – I failed miserably along with everyone else but Jeb who's addicted to the game.
Woke up this morning feeling pretty good and have pretty much spent the day watching a movie and just reading LJs. Tomorrow is back to the gym and then after the weekends over I start my new job which i'm hangin for. Should be a good year for me work wise.
And, my pressie from Jeb

| | hung-over | ] | I think I was drunk all this weekend from Friday at 3pm to Sunday till 6pm. The work Kris Kringle rocked, there was plenty of food, alcohol and laughs. then we went onto the GB in Richmond to continue our drinking till the early hours of the morning. Saturday was spent recovering for a few hours before Rick came around and we continued our binge at the Backpackers before heading home to finish off two bottles of bourbon whilst watching The Simpsons and That 70s Show.
Sometime around three we passed out and before we knew it it was 11.30am Sunday where we had bacon and eggs for breakfast then because of the humidity we headed back down to the backpackers for some air-conditioning and to drink away our hangovers. And it was a complete success. |
